The Wonders of Plushie Swap!!

Hello all,

Well, some of you may remember my excitement some time ago about the amazing Plushie Swap. Today I woke up feeling really positive after a rockin' band practise last night. :) I went to look at the post on the mat, and I would have to say it was the usual boring rubbish, some junk mail and uninspiring brown letters, but I just had a feeling that maybe, just maybe, I had a parcel too. So I opened the door and Huzzah! Look what I found under the mat:

Woop-de-doo I thought - I wasn't wrong. OK there may be a lot of brown in the normal world, but that bit of brown parcel was something special. I was just bending down to pick it up when I heard an excited scuttling and, before I could get there, my Cuddle Monster Blackie was already there investigating:

OOOOH - EXCITING! A PARCEL!!!! AND IT WAS FOR MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

So Blackie picked up the parcel and as fast as he could brought it into the house to show some of the other dolls and toys who live with me in the flat. :)
Two of my Spookypie Dolls, Blackie and my little Scribblypop gathered around to look inside:

My little Scribblypop was so excited - she ripped the parcel open and jumped right inside to have a look:

There's something pink with polka dot - oooooooooh what is it????

My Scribblypop peered into the package - and realised - there was something in there with BIG EYES, and it was ALIVE!!!!

Wooh, she jumped out of the packet and ran to snuggle behind Blackie's fur. (Cuddle Monsters may look scary you know, but they are better protection than a dog - oh yeah!!)

What was emerging from the box??

Aha, there's eyes and a nose and some goofy teeth! What is it?

My Spookypie doll got right in there to have a closer look, and to help, because the poor thing was having a bit of a struggle getting out of the box:

It was making some noises - but I don't know what it was saying - it sounded like "mmmmmmfff mmmmmmffff" - probably something to do with being wrapped up in protective plastic. My Spookypie doll could work it out - and she told us all quite confidently that it was saying - "Help! Let me out of here! I've been stuck in this plastic on my journey all the way from America. Phew, I need some clean air!!!!" In no time our new friend was unwrapped and having a chat with Blackie and the dollies:

And my little Scribblypop got over her initial shyness and decided that her new favourite game was riding on the rabbit monster's ears.

After some chit-chat and a nice English cuppa, ha ha no I lie, actually we at Spider Hollow are non-stop coffee drinkers, Dotserina, that is her name, asked please please could she look out of the window and see England. - as she had come such a long way in that cardboard box. Here she is, taking a look out of the window:

But Spookypie, I hear you ask, who made this amazing Dotserina monster rabbit character? Aha! It was the most lovely ERIN BUSCH from erinmakesstuff. She makes lots of amazing monsters and I keep up with her creations on erinmakesstuff facebook page.

Well, I would just like to say THANK YOU ERIN FOR THE AWESOME DOTSERINA!!
My daughter wants her but she is MINE!!!!! Mwah, ha, ha, ha, ha! And Dotserina wanted to send you a photo postcard and tell you that she thinks that she will be very happy here living at Spider Hollow in the Spooky Woods. I have included the little card in the photo as it is ERIN'S official description of her monster. I love the way that ERIN has combined knitting and sewing and those goofy teeth that she gives her monsters make them so full of character:

Now, guess what I'm going to do now guys?

Go and sign up for next month's Plushie Swap of course. :)

Cuddle Monsters Caught Noshing MY Biscuits!!!!

WELL, I caught them at it!!!! Oh yes, there I was trying to be very organised and checking in with my new TO DO list which features the Cuddle Monsters, and I caught them - biscuit-mouthed shall we say!! Check out the evidence:

Well, here is the first photo and I don't know what you think but I can quite clearly see biscuit crumbs all down my Cuddle Monster Blackie's fur!! And my daughter's Cuddle Monster also has crumbs on her too!!

If you don't believe me then check out this photo:

Surely that big pile of BiScUiT is evidence that they were snacking out while I was busy working. Hmmmmmmm. What am I to do with these naughty Cuddle Monsters?

No wonder I have problems being organised and getting things done. I am always cleaning up after little monsters - GRRRRRRRR!!!

Well I need to know: What do you guys think I should do with these naughty Cuddle Monsters?

Also what do you think of the DO IT NOW! list? Being a creative person I have such a struggle to keep track of everything. I have so many ideas and not enough time. I also have a tendency to leave those dull jobs to the last minute. Uh-oh! Anyway I am hoping that my new TO DO list will help me to keep track of things. Do you think that it will work?
Do you need one too?
I am going to list one in my Etsy shop tomorrow but now I have to go and clean up all those biscuit crumbs!!!!!!!

RED HOT METAL!!!! NEW SPOOKYPIE DOLL :)

Well, after a great band practise last night I was buzzing with creative energy today. :) I could see from the poll responses yesterday on Facebook that the next Spookypie doll to make was a Crazy Metalhead doll. So I cranked up the Guns N' Roses and away I went. I have been sewing all day and here is the result:

It's the new Spookypie doll on the block and her name is Red Hot Metal. You can find her in my Etsy shop. You know you want to rock out with her. YEAH!!

Blue Tuesday Etsy Treasury

YAY! I'm very excited to be included in this Etsy Treasury by cuteandcreepy. It features artists from the Etsy Team 'The Otherlings' which I was invited to join this week. My Swamp Girl Spookypie Doll #148 is in great company. :)

I am so tempted by Amelia, created by Forever Fall, as she is so fluffy and such a beautiful colour. I am sure she would be super cuddly. I would also love to take care of Bluelle, created by The Odd Factory. After some proper hugs she would feel much better. :)
Check them all out here:

Scribblypops!

Late last night I was taken by one of my creative frenzies and inspired to make the very first Scribblypop! And here she is:

My aim was to design a doll that I could make in 1 hour and I have succeeded in doing that, and what's more she is very cute!! The fact that I can make this doll in 1 hour means that I can price her so that she is affordable for everyone as a pocket-money buy. Even I could afford to buy one! LOL :)

She is just the right size to fit in the palm of your hand. I can imagine Scribblypops making their homes in handbags, on desks, on bookshelves, even in plant pots, and hopefully being loved by little kiddies too because they are small and squidgy!!

My next challenge was to make more Scribblypops and I have been working hard on that today and here they are:

I have lots more ideas for the Scribblypops but seeing as I have now covered the flat in cottons and fabric and ribbons and pins it is probably time for a quick tidy-up before I get creative again!!!

These three Scribblypops are now listed in my Etsy shop. The very first one, however, belongs . . . to me!!!!

Well, do you like the Scribblypops? Let me know. :)

Plushie Swap

I am feeling excited because I have just joined the Facebook page 'Plushie Swap'.

This page is for people who make plush toys. The only rule of the swap is that you must offer up a Plushie made from your own original design.
The first Plushie Swap takes place on 1st April 2011.

Here is the Cuddle Monster that I have made for the swap:

The Plushie Swap Facebook page can be found here:

There are so many great plushies that have been made by those who are taking part. I wonder which Plushie my Cuddle Monster will get to swap homes with!!

Cuddle Monsters Released Into The Wild!

Since October last year I have been releasing Cuddle Monsters into the Big Bad Wide World!!! The first Cuddle Monster was released on request of my daughter Rosie who asked for a pink fluffy monster for her birthday. :)

"What are Cuddle Monsters Spookypie?" I hear you cry . . .

This, my friends, is a Cuddle Monster:

Yes indeedy, they are fluffy, they are monsters, and oh they look so fierce but do you know what? All they need are CUDDLES!!!!!

I plan to release some into my Etsy shop very soon. They are being very naughty in my house and keep eating all the biscuits and jumping up and down on the beds!!!!

I am really looking forward to having some feedback about the pattern and seeing some dollies that have been made using it. SOoooo exciting!!!!! : )
